Changes to the bus network in Medway from November 2026

From Sunday 1 November 2026, we will be making the following changes to our bus network in Medway to better match services with how you travel.
Service 1 Gillingham to Chatham
There will be some updates to the timetable to help keep your bus on time.

Service 2 Gillingham to Chatham
Service 2 has been extended ensuring the link to Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre remains in place following the withdrawal of service 116.
The Saturday service will no longer serve Central Avenue and Purser Way, however these locations will still be served by service 1).

Service 9
Service 9 will be renumbered as service 609.
Service 10
Service 10 will be renumbered as service 610 and there will be some minor timetable changes to help improve punctuality.
Service 101 Maidstone to Gillingham
On Saturdays the frequency on the 101 will increase to every 12 minutes, plus some Sunday morning journeys have been added following your feedback.

Service 116 Chatham to Hempstead Valley
Service 116 will be incorporated into an extended service 2. See service 2 for more information.

Service 140/141 Earl Estate to Chatham
The timetable frequency on non-school days (weekends and during school holidays) has been increased to match the current school-day service.

Service 145/146 Chatham to Warren Wood
There will be some updates to the timetable, with daytime off-peak services running up to every 15 minutes.

Service 166 Chatham to Lordswood
The timetable frequency on non-school days (weekends and during school holidays) has been increased to match the current school-day service.

Service 175 Gillingham to Chatham
Some journeys will run as service 191 (following the same route as the 175 between Gillingham and Chatham’) and provide a through service beyond Chatham to Rochester and Strood. Please see service 191 for more details.

Service 191 Chatham to Grain
Service 191 will be extended beyond Chatham to Gillingham and will run along the current Service 175 route. This will provide you with a direct link from Hoo, Strood and Rochester to Medway Hospital. Along with a standardised day time off peak route for a more regular service.
