Yorkshire network changes 1 September 2024

We are making some changes to our bus services across Yorkshire from 1st September.

• We will be launching new express service X10 between Wakefield, Leeds City Square and University of Leeds. There will be 5 trips towards Leeds in the AM peak, and 5 trips from Leeds in the PM peak. Buses will use the A650, M1 and M621, offering a quicker route to the West of Leeds City Centre compared to service 110.

• We will be extending some trips on service 255 from Cleckheaton to Scholes. This reinstates the level of service on this route to that which we operated before the pandemic.

• We will be extending some trips on service 254 from Brighouse to Huddersfield. This partly replaces service 260 by maintaining the link between Cleckheaton and Huddersfield.

• Service 261 continues to serve Dalton and Kirkheaton, with the last trip departing later from Huddersfield at 2015 (currently 1845).

• Service 271 will be split into two routes. Service 271 will continue to run between Batley and Heckmondwike, and new service 272 will operate between Heckmondwike and Cleckheaton.

• Lots of timetables are changed to reflect the latest traffic volumes, helping to improve our punctuality.

Major changes are made to the timetable. Service 254 will extend from Brighouse to Huddersfield, whilst service 255 will gain additional trips to Scholes.

Service 254 will extend from Brighouse to Huddersfield. After serving Brighouse Bus Station, we will run direct to Huddersfield via A641 passing Brighouse Sainsbury's, Brighouse Railway Station, Huddersfield ASDA, and Huddersfield Railway Station before reaching Huddersfield Bus Station. We will depart from Stand P at Huddersfield Bus Station, and call at stop S4 at Huddersfield Railway Station, before heading back up A641 direct to Brighouse passing Huddersfield ASDA, Brighouse Railway Station and Brighouse Sainsbury's before reaching Brighouse Bus Station and continuing along the existing route to Leeds.

The extended route has been designed to partially replace service 260 by offering a quicker and more frequent service between Cleckheaton and Huddersfield. In Huddersfield, it offers public transport users more choice throughout the ongoing railway upgrade works. It also offers residents of North Huddersfield with services to Leeds, which were lost when service X6 was withdrawn by another bus operator several years ago. Additionally, there has recently been a significant reduction in the number of trips offered by another bus operator between Brighouse and Huddersfield, as well as their introduction of “AI timetables” which has led to large gaps between trips along this corridor. For all these reasons, we are hopeful that this extended service will be a welcome addition to the bus network in the area.

Service 255 will gain additional trips to Scholes, following customer feedback. This reinstates the level of service on this route to that which we operated before the pandemic.

The service pattern will be as follows:

• Between Leeds and Cleckheaton, service 254/255 will operate up to every 15 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, up to every 30 minutes Sunday daytime, and up to every hour each evening.

• Between Cleckheaton, Brighouse and Huddersfield, service 254 will operate up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, and up to every hour Sunday daytime.

• Between Cleckheaton and Scholes, service 255 will operate up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytime, and up to every two hours Sunday daytime.

• Between Scholes and Halifax, service 255 will operate up to every hour Monday to Saturday daytime, and up to every two hours Sunday daytime.
