Kids go free North East

Looking for affordable family days out this summer? Arriva North East is helping families travel for less with its Kids Go Free offer.

From Saturday 18 July to 6th of September 2026, up to three children aged 11 and under can travel free on any Arriva North East bus service when accompanied by a fare-paying adult or an adult with a valid travel pass*.

Affordable Family Travel
Adults can also take advantage of low fares across the region:

• Tyne and Wear: travel for no more than £2.50
• Tees Valley: travel for no more than £3.00 

With no parking fees, no traffic stress and no hassle, travelling by bus makes family adventures easier and more affordable.

Great Family Day Out by Bus

Whitby
Take the X93 or X94 from Middlesbrough and enjoy one of England's most scenic coastal bus routes, calling at Guisborough, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Scarborough. Once in Whitby, families can enjoy the beach, visit the Whitby Lobster Hatchery, explore Whitby Abbey or relax in Pannett Park.

Whitley Bay
Hop on the 306 from Newcastle for a classic seaside escape. Discover St Mary's Lighthouse, explore the rock pools at low tide or enjoy great food and sea views at Spanish City.

Saltburn-by-the-Sea
Travel on the X4 to enjoy Saltburn's Victorian charm. Ride the historic Saltburn Cliff Lift, stroll along Saltburn Pier, explore Saltburn Valley Gardens and treat the family to fish and chips with stunning coastal views.

Alnwick
Catch the X15 or X18 for a magical family adventure. Visit Alnwick Castle, famous for its role in the Harry Potter films, take part in broomstick training, then explore The Alnwick Garden and Lilidorei, an imaginative play village packed with fun for younger visitors.

On Monday 20 July and Tuesday 21 July, look out for the Arriva Poison Bus, where families can enjoy:

Dalton Park
Enjoy shopping, entertainment and family fun at Dalton Park Outlet Shopping Centre. Catch the 22 service to enjoy latest blockbusters at Cineworld Dalton Park or test their skills at The Hole in the Wand adventure golf.
