Improvements and new services for Milton Keynes
from 31 August 2025
We’re bringing an even better bus network to Milton Keynes from 31 August 2025. We’ll be providing faster journeys, serving more places and introducing new services.
**New timetables will appear on the links below as soon as they're available**
2 Newport Pagnell to Grange Farm
We're making minor changes to the timetable to help keep buses running on time. Buses still run at the same frequency of up to every 30 minutes. There is no change to the route.
3/3S Milton Keynes to Magna Park
We're making minor changes to the timetable to help keep buses running on time - still at the same frequency of up to every 20 minutes. There is no change to the route.
4 Wolverton to Bletchley through Milton Keynes
We're making minor changes to the timetable to help keep buses running on time - still at the same turn-up-and-go frequency of up to every 15 minutes between Bletchley and Milton Keynes city centre. There is no change to the route.
5/6 Wolverton to Bletchley and Lakes Estate
We're making minor changes to the timetable to help keep buses running on time - still at the same turn-up-and-go frequency of up to every 10 minutes (combined) between Lakes Estate and Milton Keynes city centre, then every 20 minutes towards Wolverton on each route. There is no change to the route.
X1 Milton Keynes to Luton
We’re making route X1 even quicker and better connected – cutting journey times and adding new stops based on what you’ve told us:
- 20% faster journeys between Luton and Milton Keynes – thanks to a new, direct route via the A5 from Dunstable
- Now serving Capability Green – following requests from local businesses, we’re extending the X1 to provide fast, direct commuter links to this popular business park
- Also stopping at Luton Retail Park, making it easier to connect with Luton Airport Parkway station
To help deliver these speed improvements, the X1 will no longer serve Bletchley Bus Station, Stadium MK or Milton Keynes Hospital – but you can still make local connections using routes 5 and 6 in Milton Keynes. The route is unchanged from Hockliffe to Dunstable and Luton.
And don’t forget – our X1 transfer ticket lets you change onto Busway services to London Luton Airport at no extra cost, with up to 12 journeys per hour. All part of our plan to keep you connected, faster and more reliably than ever.
X2/X3 Luton Airport to Milton Keynes
We’ve listened to your feedback since launching our revised Busway network in June – and we’re making improvements to route X2 and X3 to better support your journeys.
On Sundays, routes X2 and X3 will both run two-hourly, creating a combined hourly frequency between Luton Airport, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes. We're starting earlier commuter journeys on X3 from Newton Leys, providing additional trips for customers in Stoke Hammond to get to key destinations at rush hour.
These changes are all about making your travel more convenient, with better connections when you need them most. Our buses continue to run up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday daytimes, with improved timings on Sundays to better match ever-changing traffic conditions.
X4 Leighton Buzzard to Aylesbury
We’re revising our existing route X4 to run between Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury only. The changes include:
- New route serving Aylesbury, Kingsbrook, Wing, Sandhills and Leighton Buzzard.
- Buses continue beyond the town centre to Leighton Buzzard rail station, with journeys timed to connect with fast trains from London as closely as possible during peak times.
- Buses run up to every hour, Monday to Saturday during the day – perfect for shopping, commuting, or leisure
- A schooldays-only return journey from Heath and Reach to Aylesbury (via Leighton Buzzard) will continue to operate, with timings designed to serve students at Aylesbury Grammar School and Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School. The return journey from Sir Henry Floyd is adjusted to meet the new school finish time.
For journeys to Heath and Reach for the majority of the day, please refer to Central Bedfordshire Council for alternative local travel options.
X6 Aylesbury to Milton Keynes
We’ve made changes to route X6 to get you into Milton Keynes more reliably – especially during busy times:
- We’ve adjusted the timetable to continue serving local schools reliably along the route
- Sir Thomas Freemantle School will now be served by the 1445 journey from Aylesbury; buses will no longer start from the school.
- Later evening journeys now extend into Milton Keynes, while early morning buses will start from Aylesbury for added flexibility
These changes are all about helping you get into central Milton Keynes quicker – whether you’re commuting, heading to school, or connecting with evening plans.
X14 Milton Keynes to Aylesbury FAST
We’re speeding up your commute with a quicker, more direct route X14 – tailored for peak-time travel:
- Direct peak-time buses between Milton Keynes, Fenny Stratford, Lakes Estate and Newton Leys – then fast through Wing and Kingsbrook to Aylesbury
- Perfect for commuters, with a faster, more reliable link when you need it most
- Buses run Mondays to Fridays only, during peak times.
If you're travelling between Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard, check out our new route X4 – providing regular connections throughout the day.
These changes are all about helping you get where you need to be, quicker and more efficiently.
Loop Milton Keynes Circular
We’re improving the Loop service to get you into Milton Keynes city centre quicker and closer to popular destinations:
- Buses now extend to Furzton (Dulverton Drive), Glebe Farm, and Magna Park (Crossley Drive), offering faster journeys into the heart of Milton Keynes
- The route now uses Grafton Street, bringing stops closer to IKEA and MK One Retail Park for easier shopping trips
- Due to low demand, we’ll no longer serve West Bletchley (Melrose Centre and Whalley Drive). Route 4 continues to serve the area up to every 15 minutes.
- On Saturdays, buses will run between Woburn Sands, Milton Keynes city centre, Westcroft, Bletchley and MK One Retail Park – meaning the hospital, Open University and Bow Brickhill won’t be served on Saturdays only.
These updates focus on delivering quicker, more convenient journeys where you need them most.
