Cookham Bridge Closure

Diversion to buses between High Wycombe and Maidenhead from 16 October 2023

Essential maintenance work to Cookham Bridge is set to get underway from Monday 16 October 2023, with a road closure due to be in place for approximately 20 weeks.  This important refurbishment project will help extend the life of the Grade II listed structure, ensuring the bridge continues to serve the community for many years to come.

During this time route 7 will be diverted, and will be unable to serve Cookham or Cookham Rise.  Buses will operate as normal between High Wycombe and Bourne End Rail Station, and then run non-stop to Furze Platt where they will pick up the regular route in to Maidenhead and vice-versa.

Click here for the temporary timetable – note there are no changes to the times at any other point along the route.

Customers travelling to/from Cookham or Cookham Rise may use GWR rail services and connect with Arriva routes 5/6/7 at Bourne End Rail Station.  If you live in Cookham or Cookham Rise and have reduced mobility or a disability, contact People to Places on 01628 587925 to learn about alternative door-to-door dial-a-ride services.

Further information on these works is available on the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead’s website.
