Changes to our services in Telford and Shropshire

We’re making some minor changes to the timetable that we run on Mondays to Saturdays.

The 1715 Route 3 from Telford Town Centre on Mondays to Saturdays will operate as a Route 3A at the same time, to provide a replacement journey for Hollinswood.

We’re making some changes to the timetable to improve timekeeping throughout the day, and to provide more punctual arrivals for passengers and scholars during the morning peak.

The Monday to Friday early morning journeys from Telford Bus Station to Newport and Stafford will start earlier. This is to reflect the need for additional running time due to traffic delays during the morning peak.

0548 Route 5 will depart Telford Bus Station at 0533
0608 Route 5A will depart Telford Bus Station at 0553
0628 Route 5 will depart Telford Bus Station at 0613
0658 Route 5A will depart Telford Bus Station at 0643
0718 Route 5A will depart Telford Bus Station at 0713

From Stafford:
0710 Route 5 will depart Earl Street at 0658
0740 Route 5A will depart Earl Street at 0733
0800 Route 5 will depart Earl Street at 0748

From Newport and Donnington to Telford, most morning peak journeys on Mondays to Fridays will run 5 minutes earlier.

For the rest of the day, on Mondays to Saturdays and Sundays most buses will depart from Telford Bus Station 5 minutes later than currently, and from Stafford Earl Street 3 minutes later than currently, with some adjustments to the running times throughout the journey.

Between Telford Town Centre and Donnington, the combined service on routes 5, 5A and 5B will provide a bus up to every 20 minutes throughout the day on Mondays to Saturdays.

We’re making some changes to the timetable to improve timekeeping and to provide more punctual arrivals for passengers during the morning peak.

0600 route 8 from Bridgnorth, will depart from Low Town at 0550, and High Town Sainsburys at 0555
0700 route 8 from Bridgnorth, will depart from Low Town at 0650, and High Town Sainsburys at 0655.

On Mondays to Fridays
0655 route 8 from Lightmoor, will depart at 0645
0725 route 8 from Lightmoor, will depart at 0715 and will start from Madeley High Street at 0706
0755 route 8 from Lightmoor, will depart at 0745.

On Mondays to Fridays, additional journeys will depart from Madeley High Street at 0806, Lightmoor at 0815, and Broseley at 0855.

On Saturday, additional journeys will depart from Madeley for Telford Town Centre at 0641 and 0921.

On Route 8A, journeys from Much Wenlock will depart 2 minutes earlier than they do currently.

Journeys from Telford Bus Station to Lightmoor, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth are unaffected.

We’re making some improvements to this service to bring passengers a better and more reliable service.

For the main part of the day on Mondays to Saturdays, we’re increasing the frequency to every 45 minutes to provide additional capacity and more journeys to Oswestry and Shrewsbury.

To increase capacity when Shrewsbury College is open, an additional journey will operate on College Days only departing Oswestry Bus Station at 0710 and arriving in Shrewsbury Bus Station at 0815.

For the safety of our colleagues, passengers and other road users using the A5, and to provide more consistent running times, buses travelling between Shrewsbury and Oswestry will no longer make the right turn from Montford Bridge onto the A5. Instead, buses will turn left, travel along the A5 to Churncote Roundabout (A5/A458), before returning up the A5 to Nesscliffe.

We’re making some major changes to the timetable to balance our cost of operation with the revenue received, to protect the long-term viability of this bus service. Revenue support we have been receiving to maintain the current timetable ended in August 2024 and we have also seen a significant reduction in scholar’s revenue. Despite our best efforts to continue operation of this service on a commercial basis the number of passengers using this service does not cover the cost of operation.

Most of the daytime journeys will run 15 minutes earlier with some journeys withdrawn. This includes the withdrawal of the 0902 from Wolverhampton to Bridgnorth on Mondays to Fridays, and the withdrawal of the 0850 from Bridgnorth to Wolverhampton on Mondays to Saturdays. One lunchtime round trip is also removed on Mondays to Saturdays.

Following discussions with Shropshire Council, we will receive revenue support to continue operating the 0744 route 9 from Seisdon to Oldbury Wells School and Bridgnorth and a 1547 route 9 from Oldbury Wells School and Bridgnorth to Upper Ludstone on schooldays only. These journeys will remain in place until 31 March 2025, when alternative arrangements will be considered.

We’re making some minor changes to the timetable to improve timekeeping, and to provide more resilience in the event of traffic delays and congestion between Telford and Shrewsbury.

The 1635 journey from Shrewsbury Bus Station that runs when Shrewsbury College is open, will depart 10 minutes later at 1645, and will operate 10 minutes later throughout.

All other journeys on route X10, are unaffected and this service continues to provide passengers with a reliable, fast and direct link between Shrewsbury and Telford.

We’re making some changes to the timetable to improve timekeeping on the network.

The 1505 and 1535 departures from Telford Town Centre on Mondays to Fridays, will be replaced with one journey departing Telford Bus Station at 1520.

The 1635 departure from Telford Town Centre on Mondays to Fridays, will be delayed by 10 minutes, departing at 1645.

The 1705 departure from Telford Town Centre on Mondays to Saturdays, will be replaced by a 1715 departure on Route 3A.

All journeys from Shrewsbury will depart from the Bus Station 5 minutes earlier than they do currently, with additional running time built into the timetable. Buses from Sutton Farm will arrive at the Bus Station 1 minute earlier than currently.

Unfortunately, because on low passenger numbers, the Saturday service will be withdrawn in its entirety.

We’re making a small change to the timetable with the 0652 departure from Bridgnorth High Town to Grove Estate being withdrawn on Mondays to Saturdays. There are no changes to the rest of the timetable.
