Better connections for a great day out this summer

With the summer holidays fast approaching we’re making some changes to our services from Saturday 15 July 2023 to provide better connections to great days out in Leicestershire.

Twinlakes
5/5A/X5 Leicester to East Goscote and Melton Mowbray 

We'll be extending certain journeys to Twinlakes Park in Melton Mowbray, Monday to Saturday between 15 July and 26 August.

Twinlakes is the Midlands' premier all-action, all-weather family theme park with funfair rides, soft play, the Red Rooster Zoo Farm and Phoenix Bird of Prey Centre, and a splashtastic water park.  Buy your admission tickets on the Twinlakes website before 10am on the daty of travel and save 15%.

Wistow
49 Leicester to Fleckney 

We'll be extending this route to call at Wistow Rural Centre, home to Wistow Maze - a giant 8 acre Maize Maze with a fun Quiz Trail hidden amongst 3 miles of pathways, with high level bridges and towers (open daily through the summer from 17 July), as well as boutique shops, a bistro café, mediteranian deli, the enchanting Wiston-le-Dale model village.

From Leicester buses will follow the current route along Kilby Road in to Fleckney, and then return along Leicester Road and Station Road to pass Wistow Rural Centre.  Customers travelling to Wistow should stay onboard as the bus passes through Fleckney.

Customers travelling from Coleman Road, Batchelor Road, and Middletons Close (all on Kilby Road in Fleckney) will need to wait on the opposite side of the road, towards the High Street for buses to Leicester.

Bradgate park

And we still run our 29B service every Sunday from Leicester to the stunning Bradgate Park. With scenic walks and beautiful wildlife it’s a great family day out.

We’re also make a few changes to some of our other services from 15 July 2023.  

26 Leicester to Coalville  

This service will be renumbered 28 at the request of Leicester City Council, to avoid confusion with the FirstBus 26 service to Mowmacre Hill.

There is no change to the route or timetable. 

58/58A Leicester to Hamilton 

We're making some small changes to the timetable of this service to help improve punctuality.  There is no change to the route or frequency.

Don't forget, you can now catch service 58/58A from Haymarket Bus Station where there's an indoor waiting area, public toilets, and a kiosk selling hot and cold drinks and snacks.

153 Leicester to Market Bosworth 

The 0525 departure from Leicester will be replaced by the 0520 departure of service 158 which follows the same route out of the City along Hinckley Road
