Arriva supports breastfeeding on buses

To show support for breastfeeding mothers, Arriva announced that its buses will officially be a breastfeeding friendly zone.

During World Breastfeeding Week (1st - 7th August), Arriva rolled out a series of new posters and signs to promote breastfeeding on board the bus. The posters featured in prominent areas on buses throughout the Liverpool city region in a bid to support breastfeeding mothers travelling with young children and babies.

Lisa Pearson, Head of Marketing commented: “As a mother myself, I’m aware that there is still a stigma attached to women breastfeeding in public places, so we wanted to do everything we can to ensure that mothers travelling with babies feel comfortable to breastfeed on the bus".

Arriva is also working with Bambis, a group which works to support and provide information to pregnant women and breastfeeding mums in Liverpool. The group is currently working towards normalising breastfeeding in the community by encouraging a breastfeeding friendly culture, and asking businesses across the city to display the Breastfeeding Mayoral Quality Mark.

Sarah Todd, Liverpool Bambis Co-ordinator commented: “Liverpool City Council, along with Bambis is working hard to encourage a breastfeeding friendly environment to support families across the city to breastfeed. Over 250 businesses have signed up to this important initiative and we are delighted to have Arriva on board. We look forward to seeing our Mayoral charter stickers on every Arriva bus in the city.”
