More improvements to Luton’s bus network

from 31 August 2025

We’ll be making some exciting improvements to Luton’s bus network from 31 August 2025. Some services will see greater frequency or speedier journeys. And we’ve listed to our customer’s feedback about our newer services and will be refining them to meet customer demand.

**New timetables will appear on the links below as soon as they're available**

1 Dunstable to Luton and Farley Hill
We're making minor changes to the timetable to help keep buses running on time - still at the same turn-up-and-go frequency of up to every 15 minutes. Buses towards Dunstable will move stands to LS6 in Luton Interchange.

4/4A Luton to L and D Hospital or Dunstable
We're making some small changes to the timetable ready for the new school year. We're also adding some extra journeys from Dunstable in the morning rush hour to better connect with Leagrave rail station.

12 Luton to Stopsley
We're bringing even more buses to this popular route. We’ve upgraded the frequency to every 12 minutes for most of the day, with slight adjustments during peak times to help keep buses running smoothly and on time. Buses will return to Luton Interchange, stopping at stand LS6, providing better links with the town centre and rail station.

321 Luton to Watford
We’ve made big improvements to route 321, making it the go-to service for school, work, shopping and more. Buses will now run up to every 15 minutes Monday to Friday, perfect for commuting or getting to class.

With buses running up to every 15 minutes on Saturdays, and every 30 minutes on Sundays, there's never been a better time to get out and explore the exciting destinations this route has to offer. We'll be combining these improvements with refreshed timetable that helps keeps our buses running on time.

As part of these changes, routes 721 will no longer serve Luton, however, there’ll still be a bus every 15 minutes between Luton and St Albans. Route 821 will no longer run, but with route 321 stepping up as your core service, getting to school, employment hubs or retail destinations is easier and more convenient than ever. Customers for Townsend School should use Harpenden Lane (Texaco Garage) for the short walk to the school gates.

300 Luton to Hemel Hempstead
Service 721 will now become service 300. This service will no longer serve Luton but will continue to run up to every 30 minutes fast between Hemel Hempstead and St Albans, Monday to Saturday daytimes. When combined with service 302 it’ll provide a combined frequency of every 15 minutes between the two towns.

Customers wishing to travel onwards from St Albans towards Luton should change onto route 321 at St Peters Street bus interchange.

Customers using these combined services are advised to purchase All Zone Connect or Arriva Orbit Zone tickets as they offer the best value for a round trip.

We’ve listened to your feedback since launching our revised Busway network in June – and we’re making improvements to route A to better support your journeys.

X1 Milton Keynes to Luton
We’re making route X1 even quicker and better connected – cutting journey times and adding new stops based on what you’ve told us:

- 20% faster journeys between Luton and Milton Keynes – thanks to a new, direct route via the A5 from Dunstable
- Now serving Capability Green – following requests from local businesses, we’re extending the X1 to provide fast, direct commuter links to this popular business park
- Also stopping at Luton Retail Park, making it easier to connect with Luton Airport Parkway station

To help deliver these speed improvements, the X1 will no longer serve Bletchley Bus Station, Stadium MK or Milton Keynes Hospital – but you can still make local connections using routes 5 and 6 in Milton Keynes. The route is unchanged from Hockliffe to Dunstable and Luton.

And don’t forget – our X1 transfer ticket lets you change onto Busway services to London Luton Airport at no extra cost, with up to 12 journeys per hour. All part of our plan to keep you connected, faster and more reliably than ever.
