Kids free bus travel
Whether it's the seaside, the park, or a family day out, getting there just got easier and cheaper. Following the launch of UK Government's Great British Summer of Savings campaign, kids will be able to travel for free between 1 August to 31 August 2026.
Children aged 5 to 15 inclusive will travel for free during this period making days out more affordable.
Free travel for kids applies to journeys that start in England. School services and journeys that start in Wales are not included.
Children can prove their age by showing the bus driver one of the below forms of identification:
- School ID card or student pass.
- Local authority travel card or concessionary pass.
- Young person's bus pass issued by a transport authority.
- A digital school or travel pass on a phone, if locally available.
Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a person aged 16 or over.

North East
From Saturday 18 July to 6th of September 2026, up to three children aged 11 and under can travel free on any Arriva North East bus service when accompanied by a fare-paying adult or an adult with a valid travel pass.
