Midlands places to take the kids

Here are some places to take the kids to this summer to keep everyone entertained.

East Midlands:

Great Central Railway
Thomas Cook, the pioneer of modern tourism, ran his first railway excursion here in 1841 and visitors can follow in his footsteps today, catching a steam train on the Great Central Railway.

Melton Mowbray 
As Britain's third oldest market town, Melton Mowbray's rich heritage is evident at every turn. With beautiful black-and-white timbered shopfronts, over 700 listed buildings and stunning parks and waterways, this timeless Midlands town is well worth the trip.

Bradgate Park
The Park offers a wild and rugged landscape with dramatic rocky outcrops and gnarled old oak trees, many of which are well over 500 years old. The landscape offers some of the finest views and is rich in change throughout the seasons.

Watermead Country Park
A haven for wildlife with nature reserves and wetland habitats, tranquil lakes, wildflower meadows and a network of surfaced paths. Use Leicester Services 5, 5A, X5, 6 & 6A

Swadlincote Snowsports Centre
Learn to ski or snowboard at Swadlincote Snowsports Centre, located in the heart of the National Forest. Use Leicester 29 & 29A services

West Midlands:

Tamworth castle 

Our 6, 110, 765 and X65 services will all bring you to the castle from outside of Tamworth but all Tamworth services will get you there.

Tamworth Snowdome 
Home to winter sports fun. Whether you’re an experienced on the slopes and ice or wanting to experience something new the Snowdome has you covered.

Service 8 stops right outside whilst services 6, 10 and 110 all stop on Fazeley Road, just a short walk away.

Stafford Castle 
A Norman medieval fortress in Staffordshire, built in the 11th century as a stronghold of the Stafford family and later rebuilt in stone.

Our service 5 and 5A stop directly outside the castle.

The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery
Discover Stoke-on-Trent’s world-famous ceramics alongside collections of art, archaeology and local history.

Our 64 service from Shrewsbury takes you directly to the museum.

Lichfield
There are plenty of fascinating places to visit in Lichfield with The Garrick Theatre and The Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum both a short walk from the bus station.

There’s also Lichfield Cathedral, Beacon Park and Erasmus Darwin House which are also popular visitor attractions.

Telford Town Park & Wonderland
