How to get your Student discount
Your SmartCard can be obtained from the GKSU reception in The Student Hub from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]
To activate your Smart Card online, please use our guide, and ensure you use your university email address when registering.
Lost/Stolen or Damaged Card
If your Smart Card is lost, stolen or damaged, you can order a replacement via your online account at a cost of £3. Please allow 5 working days for your new card to arrive and any tickets on your old smartcard will transfer over if the expiry date has not passed.

Option 2 – Travel Club
You can join the travel club by clicking on www.arrivabus.co.uk/uam
The scheme will allow you to purchase an annual ticket, by paying easy to manage monthly payments, with the option to stop and start payments when you wish or, if your circumstances change. Your ticket will also provide you with
- A saving of up to 20% annually, compared to buying 4 weekly tickets over the year
- Unlimited travel within your travel zone
- Paperless tickets via our M-Ticket app or, a paper ticket if preferred
- With a paper ticket, 2 children can travel with you at weekends and Bank Holidays
Student Single fares
Chatham Rail Station and Chatham Waterfront Bus Station to universities (routes 1, 2, 100, 101, 121 & 182)
Students can buy a single ticket from our Arriva bus driver for just £1.70. Just show a valid student ID when you board.
Pier Quays to Universities and Dockyard Main Gate (route 1)
Students can buy a single ticket from our Arriva bus driver for just £1.70 by showing a valid student ID.
