Northumberland & Tyne and Wear bus improvements

From Sunday 22 March and Sunday 29 March 2026

We’ll be introducing a number of updates to services across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear from Sunday 22 March and Sunday 29 March 2026, designed to improve reliability and help you make the most of your journey.

Based on customer feedback we are have reviewed the following journeys and some journey times will change slightly. 

New Service 3 – Blyth to Bebside Rail Station

From Sunday 22 March, we’re introducing a brand-new peak-time Service 3 between Blyth and Bebside Rail Station.

Delivered in partnership with Northern Rail and Northumberland County Council, this new service will make it easier to connect with rail services to Newcastle. It will initially operate three journeys in each direction, timed to link with key commuter trains.

Service 306 – Newcastle to Tynemouth

From 22 March, Service 306 will operate to a revised timetable. Daytime frequencies will remain the same, however the service will no longer operate beyond Tynemouth to Whitley Bay. Later evening journeys towards Newcastle will run up to 30 minutes later to better reflect customer travel patterns.

Service 308 – Newcastle to Blyth

Service 308 will also run to an updated timetable from 22 March. Daytime frequencies will stay the same, with some later evening journeys towards Newcastle running slightly earlier.

Service 419 – Morpeth to Wallington Hall and Scots Gap

On Saturdays, both journeys on Service 419 will run five minutes later to improve connections with other services in Morpeth.

Services X7, X8, X9 and X10/X11 – Newcastle to Blyth

Minor timetable adjustments will be introduced to help improve reliability during peak travel times.

Service X14 – Newcastle to Morpeth and Thropton

From Sunday 29 March, additional journeys on Service X14 will serve Cragside making it easier to enjoy this popular destination.
