Wakefield Service Changes - 21st and 22nd February 2016

From Monday 22nd February 2016.

We are making a number of changes to our services in Wakefield and the surrounding areas from the weekend of 20th February. This includes a major review of services 148, 149, 150 and 184, 185 and 189.

Dates next to each service number show when each of the changes take effect.

We have also made a number of improvements to increase service reliability. Please see below for a route by route guide to the changes:

 

110 - Hall Green to Leeds

Minor changes have been made to improve the timetable of this service. Click here for more information.

 

145 - Wakefield to Knottingley (evenings only)

There will be some minor timetable changes to this service.

 

147 - Wakefield to Pontefract

There will be some minor timetable changes to this service in the weekday morning and evening peaks.

 

148 - Wakefield to Knottingley

This service will now run up to every 20 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes, providing one extra bus per hour to New Sharlston and Wordsworth Drive in Ferrybridge.

- Please note, there will be no route changes to this service, but new links will be provided in the Knottingley and Ferrybridge area.

 

149 - Wakefield to Knottingley

This service will now run up to every 20 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes, providing one extra bus per hour to Priory Road in Feathestone, and an extra direct bus per hour between Pontefract and Knottingley.

- Please note, there will be no route changes to this service, but new links will be provided in the Knottingley and Ferrybridge area. 

 

150 - Wakefield to Knottingley or Selby

This number will no longer operate. It will be replaced by services 148,149 and 476:

  • Journeys between Wakefield and Knottingley will be replaced by services 148 and 149, which will both now run up to every 20 minutes!
  • Most journeys between Pontefract and Selby will be replaced by our new service 476.     

 

173/4/5 and 173A/174A/175A - Wakefield to Wetherby and Castleford

184 - Wakefield to Pontefract

This service will now operate hourly between Castleford and Pontefract only.

Improvements to service 189 will replace journeys on the 184 between Wakefield and Castleford.

- Please note, this service will follow a revised route between Castleford and Airedale, due to the closure of the turning circle at Stansfield Road. Please click here for a map of the revised route.

Customers travelling from Normanton to most stops between Castleford and Pontefract can now use our extended 187 service. Alternatively, you can now hop on service 189 and change buses at Castleford.

 

185 - Wakefield to Pontefract

This number will no longer operate. It will be partially replaced by changes to service 187 and 189.

Improvements to service 189 will replace journeys on the 185 between Wakefield and Castleford.

Customers travelling from Normanton to most stops between Castleford and Pontefract can now use our extended 187 service. Alternatively, you can now hop on service 189 and change buses at Castleford.

On school days the 07:05 186 from Wakefield will provide a direct link to King's School in Pontefract, with a return journey at 15:25 from King's School. Number 186 will operate the same route as the 187 between Wakefield and Airedale. Journeys between Airedale and King’s School will operate via the old 185 route. Please click here for more information.

 

187 - Wakefield to Pontefract

There will be a few improvements to the route of this hourly service. This number will partially replace 185 between Castleford and Pontefract.

In Cutsyke, buses will now serve the full length of Pasture Way between Willowbridge Lane and Aketon Road.

This service will also be extended to Pontefract. It will serve the same route as 185 between Castleford and Airedale. From Airedale this service will operate via Holywell  Lane, Junction 32 Outlet and Park Road to Pontefract. This will provide a new direct Monday to Saturday service to Junction 32 from Wakefield, Altofts and Airedale. Click here for a map of the new route.

This number partially replaces services 135, 136 and 138 between Junction 32 and Castleford.

 

188 - Wakefield to Knottingley

Following your feedback, the route of some evening 188 journeys will be improved to partially cover the daytime service 187 in Normanton. Click here for more information.

To improve punctuality the 188 will now operate as a circular service around the Knottingley area.

 

189 - Wakefield to Leeds

Service 189 will now operate an improved timetable, running up to every 10 minutes between Wakefield and Castleford. The service will extend to Leeds up to every 30 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes. For the newly improved timetable, please click here.

Please note, journeys on services 184 and 185 between Wakefield and Castleford will be replaced by service 189.

 

193/4/5/6 - Wakefield to Barnsley/Hemsworth/Newstead

Minor changes have been made to improve the timetable of this service. The Saturday evening trip from Barnsley at 18:00 will now operate as service 194, providing an extra bus between Newstead and Wakefield. Click here for more information.

 

212 – Dewsbury to Wakefield

Due to a review of local authority support for this service, some evening and Sunday daytime trips will now be provided by another operator. Please visit http://www.wymetro.com for more information.

 

268/268A – Bradford to Wakefield

An improved timetable will be introduced on this service. For information, please click here.

Please note; buses will follow a revised route when leaving Bradford Interchange. There will be no changes to the stops on this service.
