Service changes in the Wakefield area

From the weekend of 26th October 2019, there will be changes to some services in the Wakefield area:

103 – Wakefield to Stanley – from Monday 28th October

The weekday 17:02 from Wakefield will operate 1 minute later throughout.

 

107 108 109 – Wakefield to Hall Green – from Monday 28th October

These services will now depart from stand 18 in Wakefield Bus Station. The weekday 09:00 107 will remain on stand 17.

 

117 – Wakefield to Leeds – from Monday 28th October

Minor changes will be made to the timetable of this service to help provide better spacing of buses between Leeds and White Rose Centre with new service 118.

 

118 118A 118S - *NEW SERVICES* - Leeds to Wakefield – from Monday 28th October

These new services will replace 481.

 

These services will follow a similar route and timetable to 481, but all journeys on 118 and 118A will also serve the White Rose Centre. This will introduce quicker links between Wakefield and the White Rose Centre. They will also provide new direct connections to shops and Elliott Hudson College for residents of Wrenthorpe, East Ardsley and Thorpe, which were requested by customers at a recent bus user surgery event.

 

Some evening and all Sunday journeys on 481 currently serve John Charles Centre. These will continue to do so and will be numbered 118A. These journeys will also now serve White Rose Centre.

 

New schoolday only service 118s operates two journeys per day and will not serve White Rose Centre. These journeys serve Rodillian Academy in Lofthouse.

 

Following customer requests, an earlier weekday journey will be introduced from Thorpe to Wakefield, departing 07:02.

 

119 120 – Wakefield to Batley – from Monday 28th October

Changes will be made to the timetable to help improve service reliability.

 

128 128A – Wakefield to Dewsbury – from Monday 28th October

Changes will be made to the weekday timetable to improve service reliability.

 

147 – Wakefield to Pontefract – from Monday 28th October

Changes will be made to the timetable to help improve service reliability.

 

148 148A 149 – Wakefield to Knottingley – from Monday 28th October

A new Monday to Saturday daytime timetable will be introduced, with 148 and 149 each operating every 30 minutes. These will combine to every 15 minutes where the routes are shared.

 

Changes will also be made to the timetable to improve service reliability.

 

These services will now depart from stand 15 in Wakefield Bus Station.

 

173A 174 174A 175 175A – Wakefield to Wetherby and Castleford – from Monday 28th October

Minor changes will be made to the timetables of these services to improve service reliability.

 

177 – Pontefract to Castleford – from Monday 28th October

Monday to Saturday evening journeys from Pontefract will operate 2 minutes earlier. They will operate 2 minutes earlier throughout.

 

187 – Wakefield to Pontefract – from Monday 28th October

A revised route will be introduced in the Cutsyke area, to serve new housing developments at Blenheim Way and Sycamore Drive. As a result, there will be minor changes to the times of buses towards Wakefield.

 

This service will now depart from stand 17 in Wakefield Bus Station.

 

188 – Wakefield to Knottingley – from Monday 28th October

This service will now depart from stand 17 in Wakefield Bus Station.

 

189 – Wakefield to Leeds – from Monday 28th October

This service will now depart from stand 16 in Wakefield Bus Station.

 

196 – Wakefield to Newstead – from Monday 28th October

The weekday 15:50 from Wakefield will operate 5 minutes later throughout. The weekday 16:32 from Newstead will operate 3 minutes later throughout.

 

197 – Ryhill to South Elmsall – from Monday 28th October

Changes will be made to the timetable to help improve service reliability.

 

212 212A – Wakefield to Dewsbury – from Monday 28th October

Changes will be made to the weekday timetable to improve service reliability.

 

217/X17 – Overton to Leeds – from Monday 28th October

Service 217 will be replaced by new X17, which will have a revised timetable to improve reliability.

 

To speed up journeys to Leeds, this service will operate ‘Limited Stop’ into and out of Leeds. Towards Leeds, the service will only stop to drop off from the Tommy Wass pub into Leeds. From Leeds in the afternoon, the service will only pick up from Leeds Bus Station to Dewsbury Road close to White Rose Centre.

 

425 427 425A – Wakefield to Bradford – from Monday 28th October

Changes will be made to the timetable to improve service reliability.

 

Evening, early morning and Sunday journeys on service 425 that divert to serve Drighlington Moor will be renumbered 425A.

 

444 – Leeds to Wakefield – from Monday 28th October

Minor changes will be made to the timetable of this service to improve reliability.

 

In Leeds city centre, journeys towards South Parade will now serve the railway station, following the completion of building works.

 

446 – Leeds to Wakefield – from Monday 28th October

Minor changes will be made to the timetable of this service to improve reliability.

 

In Leeds city centre, journeys towards South Parade will now serve the railway station, following the completion of building works.

 

481 – Leeds to Wakefield – from Monday 28th October

This service will be replaced by new 118, 118A and 118s.

 

496 497 – Wakefield to Upton – from Monday 28th October – **New, improved service**

 

Service 496 will have a new Monday to Saturday timetable, with extra buses providing a more regular service between Wakefield, Fitzwilliam, Hemsworth and South Elmsall!

 

Buses will now operate up to every 15 minutes between Wakefield and South Elmsall Bus Station, extending to Upton every 30 minutes.

 

A new, earlier Sunday morning journey will be introduced following customer requests. This will leave South Elmsall at 08:52 and arrive in Wakefield at 09:40.

 

Service 497 will have a revised timetable to improve service reliability.

 

874 – Wakefield to Buckden – from Sunday 27th October

In Leeds city centre, journeys towards Buckden will now serve the railway station, following the completion of building works. They will also move to stand 11 in Leeds bus station.

 

TK1 – Wakefield to TK Maxx Ferrybridge – from Monday 28th October

This service will now depart from stand 15 in Wakefield Bus Station.

 

X32 – Wakefield to Junction 32 Outlet – from Monday 28th October

The weekday late afternoon timetable will be revised, with the 16:50 from Wakefield now leaving at 16:56 and the 17:20 from Junction 32 now leaving at 17:25.

 

Most departures from Wakefield will now use stand 13, with the weekday 16:56 journey using stand 14.
