Travelling around York
Situated at the confluence of the Rivers Ouse and Foss, York is a walled city in North Yorkshire, not far from Harrogate. Famous for its racecourse and meandering streets of picture-perfect Elizabethan shops, there’s much more to this delightful city than horses and cobbled streets.
York’s rich heritage is apparent in every corner of the city. Black and white timber-framed buildings line the city’s cobbled streets and several fascinating structures, including York Minster, Clifford’s Tower and the city’s medieval walls, provide a fascinating window into times gone by.
York has excellent road and rail links, and Arriva buses operate in the area, providing services to and from Selby, as well as local towns and villages, such as Holgate and Acomb.
