Castleford is situated in West Yorkshire at the point where the River Calder meets the River Aire. With a rich cultural heritage and some stunning natural beauty, there’s much more to this former mining town than meets the eye. Explore Castleford’s Roman roots at the local museum, hit the slopes at the indoor snow centre or pick out a bargain at the ever-popular outlet village.

Lying just off the M62 Motorway, Castleford has excellent travel links. Arriva buses operate in the area, providing routes to surrounding towns and villages, such as Pontefract and Kippax, as well as regular services to and from Leeds.

For a little local culture, be sure to visit Castleford Museum. Here, you can discover what the town was like under Roman rule, learn about Castleford’s proud rugby heritage and explore the works of the town’s most famous son, sculptor Henry Moore.
