Employees from Arriva Yorkshire have been highly commended by the Mayor of Wakefield this week.

Councillor Elaine Blezard, Mayor of the Wakefield District, invited local winners from Arriva Yorkshire’s MAD (Made a Difference) Awards 2012 to a special reception at the official parlour at Wakefield Town Hall.

The reception was held to show her appreciation and personally offer her congratulations to them.

The employees who attended, which included drivers and office personnel, were all winners in the company’s annual recognition awards. Wakefield driver William Morgan was presented with the Employee of the Year award for his outstanding commitment and enthusiasm, and fellow Wakefield driver Andrew Lockett received the title of Ultimate Knight of the Road which is an award nominated by passengers to commend exceptional customer service.

Nigel Featham, managing director for Arriva Yorkshire, said: “We are extremely proud of all our MAD awards winners and we’re delighted that our Wakefield employees were invited to meet the mayor.”

Special recognition awards winners, regional publicity officer David Newton, drivers Graham Barraclough and Paul Cleaver and duty manager Michael Morris also attended.
