The Room on the Broom trail is based on the popular storybook, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. It begins at the visitor centre and follows a route around the lake giving youngsters the chance to see sculptures of Witch, Cat, Dog, Bird, Frog and Dragon. There will also be a range of interactive activities for children to enjoy as well as the chance to look out for animal footprints.
Cllr Maureen Cummings, Cabinet Member for Environment and Communities, said: “The Room on the Broom Trail is a, magical, outdoor experience for all the family. Regular visits to green space and country side parks are really important for the health and wellbeing of our residents, and what better way to access them than on the bus!”
Nigel Featham, regional managing director for Arriva Yorkshire said “We are delighted to be working with the Wakefield Health Improvement Team to encourage more families to hop on board the bus this summer!”
The 194/195/196 service departs up to every 20 minutes and can be tracked on the Arriva Bus app which offers journey planning, real-time maps and service information to passengers on the go!
