Kirklees schools head to the theatre

06 November 13

School pupils from Kirklees have enjoyed a trip to the theatre today thanks to Arriva Yorkshire, Bradford Theatres and the Touring Consortium Theatre Company.

Pupils from Spen Valley Sports College, St John Fishers, Whitcliffe Mount, Kirklees College, and Appleton Academy have travelled on a free bus donated by local bus company Arriva Yorkshire to see To Sir, With Love at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre. This is part of an audience development initiative set up by Bradford Theatres and the Touring Consortium Theatre Company.

This is one of the new initiatives by the Touring Consortium to encourage new audiences to touring dramas. With the help of Arriva Yorkshire and Kirklees Youth Services, they have been able to encourage young people who may never have seen a drama play before to enter the world of theatre.

Nigel Featham, regional managing director for Arriva Yorkshire said "We’re delighted to be working with the Touring Consortium Theatre Company to reward local school pupils in our community. We are so pleased we played a part in making the trip a great experience for everyone."

To Sir, With Love is currently touring at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre until Saturday 9th November. To book tickets click here.
