MP Paula Sherriff pays a visit to our Dewsbury depot
We met with MP Paula Sherriff at our Dewsbury Depot and were joined and supported by Joanne Waddington,Principal Engineer, Transport Strategy for Kirklees Council and David Keady from West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive.
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss ways in which we could speed up journey times through Ravensfield and also encourage more people to use the bus which, in turn would see less cars on our roads.
There are plans in place for an orbital link round which will take traffic away from Ravensfield however this is a long term plan so they discussed a number of cumulative small measures which could assist short term such as improved TRO’s, parking restrictions, bus stop rationalisation and/or relocation, pelican or puffin crossings and banning a right turn at one particular junction.
The meeting was a great success and Paula could definitely see the benefits of improving and encouraging bus travel as a whole both to reduce congestion and improve air quality.
Paula will now discuss improved bus travel options and solutions with Chris Grayling, the Secretary of State for Transport, as well as provide Arriva with an update on how the Buses Bill is progressing.
