Our Spring Family Day Ticket Offer in Wales
Who doesn’t love a day out in spring? After the chilly, wet weather of winter, warmer temperatures and a bit of sunshine do us all a bit of good! That’s why we’ve put together some fun day out ideas so you can hop on the bus and make the most of the upcoming months.
One of the great icons of Wales, Conwy Castle is perched majestically on the country’s north coast. The medieval fortification has stood for over 700 years, and has witnessed its fair share of history in that time. Considered to be one of the world’s finest examples of ancient military architecture, Conwy Castle is a beautiful testament to the past.
Today, the towers, gateways and interior are yours to explore, and prepare to be wowed. Grand in scale, the castle is a seriously impressive spectacle. Perhaps the best views offered by the castle can be found on the battlements – head here and you’ll be gifted awe-inspiring glances across the sea and over mountains. There’s a real end-of-the-world sensation when you’re stood on the battlements – a truly breath-taking experience.
Buses to catch: Any bus to Conwy
There is perhaps no finer way to explore the incredible natural beauty of the Welsh countryside than a meandering journey on the Llangollen Railway. Board a traditional steam locomotive from Llangollen town, next to the historic Dee Bridge, and enjoy a delightful 10-minute train journey.
The train station itself is home to a mightily impressive collection of steam engines, giving you chance to get up close and personal with these beautiful engines. A rare chance to travel back to the golden age of the railways – a million miles from modern, bustling lines.
There’s more than a little of the Hogwarts Express in the steam engines on show, sure to delight any young (or slightly older) Harry Potter fans amongst your party. A great introduction to the fascinating history and heritage of Britain’s railways.
Bus to catch: Get the service 5 to Llangollen
