Arriva's new eco-friendly depot in Rhyl is taking shape
Arriva Buses Wales new garage in Rhyl is all looking good – especially as the roof has now been fitted!
The roof is the latest addition to the site and comes with a number of eco-friendly features.
Rebuild project manager Mark Davies said: “The roof has been fitted with layers of extreme insulation, which will keep the place warm.
“It has also been fitted with natural sky lights so we won’t need lighting in the workshop in the summer.”
Light is a real feature of the roof with south-facing solar panels due to be fitted in April. They will generate hot water and a percentage of the site’s electricity.
General manager Len Cater said: “It was great to see the new roof going up. We are committed to Arriva’s Destination Green* and we’re pleased that the project is using so many eco-friendly features.”
The depot is close to the coast but, luckily, the team hasn’t had too many problems with the weather.
“We did have some high winds, but it was nothing too serious,” said Mark.
“The rebuild is on track and we look forward to seeing the site progress.”
