We offer discounted single and return fares for children and discounted fares for young people in some local authorities, however the ages that passengers are expected to pay full fare varies by area. Full details are available on our Single and Return Ticket page.
If you are not fortunate enough to qualify for child fares, we also offer some great options for discounted travel for passengers up to 18 years of age.
The Teen Card is a must for all young people living in the North East. It allows reduced travel on almost all Arriva North East services at off-peak times and during most non-schooldays. Any young person up to the age of 18 can get a Teen Card. You can use your Teen Card up to the 31st August, after your 18th Birthday.
Where can I go?
You can travel on all Arriva services starting/finishing in the North East area, except for Service X93.
When can I use it?
You can use your Teen Card after 6pm on Monday to Friday, at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. You will also be able to use your card after 9am during most school holidays.
How much will I have to pay?
The great news is that Teen Card holders are only charged at half the adult fare or £1, whichever is lower. That means that irrespective of the length, each journey you make will only be charged a maximum of £1.
How can I get one?
Please download and complete the Teen Card Application form below. Enclose two identical passport size photographs of yourself and proof of your date of birth. This will normally be a photocopy of your birth certificate.
