Getting around Southend-on-Sea by Arriva bus

Arriva buses are here to help you get around Southend-on-Sea and the surrounding area. Our buses run across the region, with frequent services to the neighbouring towns of Hadleigh, Rayleigh and Rochford, serving shopping locations, residential areas and leisure attractions.

There are buses every ten minutes to many places during the main part of the day, and our Day, Weekly and 4-weekly Savers let you cut the cost of travel by allowing unlimited journeys on all Arriva buses in the Southend, Rayleigh and Rochford area. You can buy your tickets from our drivers or even by using your mobile phone!

All buses run to Southend Travel Centre where you can make connections between any of our services. The Travel Centre is close to the Royals Shopping Centre, as well as the busy High Street, and is just five minutes or so away from the seafront, pier and Adventure Island.

At the other end of the High Street are the Victoria Shopping Centre and the Odeon multi-screen cinema.

Most services also stop at Southend Victoria interchange for trains to Stratford and London Liverpool Street, while Southend Central Station is a short walk from the Travel Centre for trains to London Fenchurch Street via Basildon.

*Children aged 14 and 15 who look older will need proof of age (Faresaver Card, Essex County Council Bite Card or a Citizencard). This will also apply to 16 year olds until the end of Year 11. Children aged 11, 12 or 13 do not need to show proof of age when buying child-rate tickets unless they look older than 13, in which case Arriva recommends that they buy a Faresaver Card which will be valid until they reach the end of Year 11. Faresaver is the recommended piece of ID for all ages.
