Free Travel Passes for Young NCS Fundraisers
Arriva’s Runcorn depot showed its support for the community by offering free day bus passes to local young fundraisers.
The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a voluntary service open to 16 and 17-year-old people in England that helps build skills for work and life by developing confidence, self-awareness and responsibility.
As part of the course, the young people of Crosby and the surrounding area raised money on behalf of the Diabetes Centre in Alder Hey children’s hospital.
“Any outgoing costs come directly from the monies they have raised, so we wanted to do our bit for them and arranged for a day’s unlimited travel for the group in order for them to travel across the region in their fundraising quest,” said operations manager Bill Francis.
Bill’s daughter Bethan is just one of the volunteers who, between them, raised the impressive sum of £557.60.
“It is so important to support the local community and the people who are going out to fundraise and help local charities,” said Bill. “Even though we have only played a small part, it shows we are here to help.”
