Arriva Has an ‘Appy Day Out in Liverpool
Bus users in Liverpool were invited to get ‘appy this week, when Arriva rolled its mobile internet café into Williamson Square to show people just how easy bus travel can be by downloading its innovative new app.
The Arriva Appy Café invited people to bring along their mobile devices and get connected with the recently launched Arriva Bus app, whilst learning more about how it can help them to manage their journeys more effectively, even when they are on the go.
Offering a welcoming garden setting in the heart of the city centre, the Appy Café provided passers-by with a demonstration of the app and its functions from a team of dedicated Appy Angels, who also offered assistance in downloading it to tablets and phones, whilst serving a selection of complimentary drinks and treats.
Debra Heaton, regional marketing manager for Arriva said: “This app aims to put all the tools for a smoother journey right at the fingertips of bus users, making it easier for them to make better informed decisions about their journeys. From its live route maps to its easy to use journey planner, the Arriva Bus app offers the most up-to-date real-time information that will help customers take control of their travel.
“By using it, people will find they are able track exactly where their bus is at all times and, as such, make the most of the time they have available to them. It’s certainly something that needs to be seen to be believed and that’s why we bought our Appy Café to Liverpool. By holding this event people were able to discover first-hand just what a brilliant travel companion our app makes.”
A one-stop-shop for route planning, timetables, and live maps, the new Arriva Bus app provides a wealth of information - with perhaps the most exciting feature being the ‘live map’ that allows customers to track their bus and see exactly where it is in real time.
Available for download for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play, the Arriva Bus app also includes a trip planner to inform customers of their travel options, such as the nearest bus stop, and offers on- bus alerts telling passengers their likely arrival time and when to get off.
Additional features are also available, such as access to all local timetables, comprehensive departure/ arrival times and journey durations, as well as service updates, FAQs, a ’contact us’ section, and links through to purchase mobile bus tickets through the existing m-ticket app.
