Arriva’s UK Bus division has taken delivery of 174 new Volvo B5LH double-deck hybrid buses
123 of the new vehicles will operate within Arriva’s London bus operations with the remaining 51 set to benefit passengers on local routes in Merseyside.
The new buses deliver reduced CO2 emissions of up to 39% compared with conventional diesel double-deckers and the order is part funded by a grant from the government’s OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles) which is set up to support the market for ultra-low emission vehicles.
The new buses, with Wrightbus bodywork, add to the existing batch of 44 Volvo hybrid vehicles Arriva purchased in 2013 for its fleet in the North West of England.
With a fleet of 5,250 buses, Arriva is one of the largest bus operators in the UK, providing services in London, the North East and Yorkshire, North West and South East of England, the Midlands and Wales.
