We are the Champions!
Arriva customers across the UK have voted in their thousands in support of their favourite bus drivers, and now the final fabulous five have been revealed.
As part of its company-wide recognition scheme, Arriva invited it’s passenger to nominate who they thought were the real ‘champions’ of their commute - the drivers who consistently go above and beyond to deliver great service. The top 20 drivers who made the coveted shortlist from across Arriva’s UK operations, then faced the public vote once again, as passengers logged online to choose who they thought should reach the national final this April.
Having received an unprecedented 15,000 votes, five of the country’s finest are left to battle it out for the title of overall ‘Bus Champion’:
• John Featherstone, Gillingham Depot
• Neil Atherton, Runcorn Depot
• Ian Evans, Aylesbury Depot
• Ian Astbury, Cannock Depot
• Paul Anderson, Derby Depot
Eve Ginever, PR & Communications Manager from Arriva UK Bus, said: “Our drivers play such an important role within the communities they are part of, and the commitment with which they go about their daily business can sometimes be overlooked. We wanted to give those customers who have experienced truly exemplary customer service from one of our drivers the opportunity to say ‘thank you’, and we have been absolutely delighted by just how many chose to do so.
“Our finalists are all fantastic examples of people who strive for excellence in everything they do, and they more than deserve to have this very public pat-on-the-back. We wish them all the best as they go head-to-head at the final, but whoever wins the national title, all our nominees are true champions in their own rights.”
Arriva’s M.A.D Awards are a national recognition programme which looks at all elements of the bus company, including; engineering, depot management and back office functions.
