Global Recognition for Arriva Sapphire
Arriva UK Bus’ acclaimed premium Sapphire brand is to be recognised for its exemplary commitment to customer excellence at the prestigious UITP (International Association of Public Transport) World Congress & Exhibition.
Sapphire, which launched in 2013 across four trial routes but has since been extended to cover 16 further services across the UK, is to be celebrated alongside three other global transport operators in the customer services category during the 61st UITP Awards taking place in Milan on 10th June.
Mark Yexley, Operations and Commercial Director for Arriva UK Bus said: “Since its launch, Sapphire has exceeded our expectations in terms of both patronage and revenue, and plays a pivotal role in our ongoing investment strategy. It was designed specifically for our passengers, who in the 21st Century demand something a little different from their transport providers. It continues to perform well across all the routes on which it operates, proving that we are not only achieving our goals, but are setting a real precedence in customer care for the industry as a whole.
“It is an absolute honour to have been recognised amongst such esteemed company at these awards, which really do seek to celebrate the very best in global transport. We will be proud to be able to champion the achievements of UK bus industry during this event, and see our shortlisting as a real benchmark for the future of bus travel across the world.”
Sapphire was created especially by Arriva to offer customers a more luxurious way to travel, improving their connectivity and comfort along some of the country’s most critical commuter routes.
Offering a host of innovative features, Sapphire greatly enhances the customer journey. From the free WiFi and charging points for mobile phones and laptops, to the on-board destination screens displaying up-to-date passenger information, these buses keep passengers connected in more ways than one. Sapphire also provides audio and visual announcements as the bus approaches stops along the route, making journey’s easier and more relaxing than ever before. Not only that, but passengers are able to travel in style thanks to luxurious high back coach seats offering enhanced space and comfort.
Sapphire will now face Taipai Rapid Transit Corporation, SMRT Corporation (Singapore), and Weiner Linien GBMH & Co (Austria) in the customer service category, one of six hotly contested awards being presented at the UITP Networking Dinner on 10th June. The Congress & Exhibition in Milan honours public transport operators and stakeholders whose mobility projects are not only the most inspiring, but that will help to double the market share of public transport by 2025.
