Downloads of Arriva’s innovative mobile app have reached over half a million, with two thirds of those who have downloaded it using the app on a regular basis.

The Arriva Bus app, which launched across the UK last summer following a successful trial in the North East, has set the benchmark for the bus industry by delivering the first fully national app to provide journey planning, real-time maps and service information to passengers on the go.

Having already been applauded by the mobile industry, achieving commendation at both the 2014 UK User Experience Awards and annual The Appster Awards, the 500,000 download milestone clearly identifies that Arriva is satisfying its customer’s need for staying in control of their journey planning.

A one-stop-shop for journey planning, timetables, and live maps, the Arriva Bus app provides a wealth of information – from real time information, giving customers the opportunity to track services and see where vehicles are on the route via a live map, to on bus information about  their likely arrival time and when to get off.

In addition, the app includes a journey planner to inform customers of their travel options such as the nearest bus stop, which bus they should get, and where to get off; as well as access to all regional timetables, complete with comprehensive departure and arrival times, as well as journey durations.
