Telford Receives Green Boost with New Vehicles
Arriva’s Telford fleet has been bolstered by the introduction of 11 new environmentally friendly vehicles.
Forming part of a significant £3.5m investment which will ultimately see 25 new buses being delivered to Telford during the first quarter of 2015, this first instalment is made-up of a fleet of single deck, Wrightbus Streetlite Micro Hybrid vehicles which will operate on the South Telford Circular services Linking Telford, Dawley, Madeley and Sutton Hill.
Arriva now hopes these vehicles will not only improve comfort and connectivity for passengers using this important transport corridor, but also go some-way towards us strengthening its environmental credentials.
Keith Myatt from Arriva Midlands said: “Wrightbus Micro Hybrid StreetLite buses are independently proven best-in-class for fuel efficiency, offering an approximate 10 per cent improvement on a typical city bus drive cycle. The vehicles also have Low Carbon Emission Bus Certification meaning they are eligible for an additional fuel support of 6p per km.
“We are committed to making much needed improvements to this critical route, and are positive that our customers will soon start to see the benefits of travelling on these next-generation, greener and cleaner buses, which will run up to 9 services each hour, leaving Telford during the daytime Monday to Saturday, with Sunday and evening buses too.
