Brand New Bus Fleet for Leicester
Arriva Midlands has celebrated the arrival of 16 new vehicles which are set to bolster its Leicestershire fleet and provide quality transportation for our valued customers.
A £2m investment will see 10 Enviro400 double deck buses go into service on Routes 47 and 48 which link the city centre with South Wigston and Wigston Magna, running up to every 15 minutes daytime Monday to Saturday, as well as evening and Sunday buses too. It will also see the evening and Sunday buses currently terminating in Hinckley extended to Coventry Road/ Harrowbrook Road, with an additional vehicle being added to the schedules to ensure that reliability and punctuality is maintained.
A further £840k has been invested in introducing 6 StreetLite single deck buses onto route 158 from Leicester to Nuneaton via Hinckley. Based at the Thurmaston depot these new vehicles run up to every 30 minutes during the daytime, Monday to Saturday, and between Leicester and Hinckley in the evenings and on Sundays.
Keith Myatt from Arriva Midlands commented: “These vehicles will not only improve comfort and connectivity for passengers using these important transport corridors, but also go some-way towards us strengthening our environmental credentials.
“The fleet is made up of ADL Enviro400 vehicles which have performed well where previously introduced by Arriva, thanks to their excellent low-weight, robust designs and powerful, economic six-cylinder Cummins EEV engines which deliver reliable low carbon emissions. We are sure that with these improvements our customers will soon start to see the benefits of travelling on these next-generation, greener and cleaner buses.
