Have you got the drive to keep Derby moving with Arriva?

Arriva Derby is recruiting drivers to work on its bus routes across the city and keen to hear from those who may be considering a career change.

The bus operator, which runs services across the city from its depot in Ascot Drive, will provide full training and support to successful applicants.

Arriva Area Managing Director Midlands (East), Simon Mathieson said Arriva’s drivers came from varied occupations including carers, mechanics, retail workers and a former beautician.

“No two days are the same as a driver and it’s a challenging, but varied role so please get in touch if you’re interested.

“We’ve got exciting plans across Derby including the current upgrade of services on the 20/26 routes to Chaddesden and Oakwood with Wi-Fi and USB ports, so it’s a great time to join us.”

Priscilla Roome worked for a funeral directors for eight years before deciding to be a bus driver.

“I wanted to try something completely different and I really enjoy what I do. My passengers are friendly and fun and I love that every day in this job is a little bit different,” she said.

Rachel Jervis has driven Arriva buses for four years following her previous role in care.

“I love to drive so this is something I wanted to try. I like talking to people and I have a great working relationship with colleagues at the depot.”
