Arriva cuts the cost of bus travel in Stafford

The cost of travelling by bus will be slashed in Stafford from this September, as Arriva announces major savings for people hopping on-board its local network.

From Monday 3rd September, fares are dropping across the board, with the flexible multi-journey tickets enabling people to start travelling more, for less within the Stafford zone.

The shortest single journeys into Stafford will become just £1. And whilst the price of adult day tickets is also being lowered to £4, and a child day ticket to £3.50, it’s the weekly passes where people will feel the greatest benefit with a saving of up to 23 percent on previous prices.

Offering unlimited travel across a seven-day period, adults wanting to make the most out of their budgets can do so for just £14 a week – that’s just £1.85 per day - £4 cheaper than the former fares. Whereas youngsters will find themselves saving £3, as their weekly passes drop to only £10.

Rob Cheveaux, area managing director for Arriva, commented: “We’re committed to providing great transport at even greater prices, and with these new fares we hope we’ll encourage many more people to save themselves the hassle of driving, fuelling cars, or paying for parking, by taking the stress-free, affordable option of taking an Arriva bus.

“These tickets offer excellent value for money on a revised network which now provides eight buses every hour to the Stafford Riverside retail development, and 6 buses per hour to the Hough and Queens retail parks. We’ve even upped the frequency on our buses between Stafford town centre and County Hospital to every 15 minutes, so there really has never been a better reason to switch to bus, in order to make your money, and time, go further.”

Further alterations to the Stafford fares will see 4-Weekly tickets reduced from £65 to £52.
