Travelling around Speke
Sitting peacefully in Merseyside, Speke is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley. Although relatively small compared to its neighbours, this doesn’t stop Speke from being a wonderful place to visit.
Blossoming over the last 60 years or so, this once small village has since turned into a thriving little community. Filled with wonderful things to see and do, it’s also home to one of the UK’s busiest airports, Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
You’ll find there’s easy access to public transport here. Arriva bus services can take you to a number of areas, including Liverpool City Centre, the airport, Bootle and several other destinations.
If you’re thinking it will be difficult to find something to do in Speke, you couldn’t be more wrong. In fact, there’s plenty of things to keep you busy throughout the day.
If you love to go shopping, then you can shop until you drop in Speke. Close to the bus interchange, you’ll discover the New Mersey Shopping Park, which is home to a number of well-known high-street retailers, alongside places to eat and drink.
If you’re looking to immerse yourself in a little history, you won’t have to look too far. The All Saints Church is a Grade II listed building that dates back to 1875 and features wonderful architecture, as well as Geometric tracery in some of the windows.
Another great place to visit is Speke Hall. A Tudor manor house, it was built between 1530 and 1598 and is a Grade I listed building. With stunning interiors and exteriors, the building is owned by the National Trust, which means you can explore the house and its grounds.
