Travelling around Netherton
Sitting in Merseyside, in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, you’ll discover the small but charming Netherton.
Mostly residential, the area is also home to the semi-rural Netherton Village. A close community, this is a place with an interesting history, popular housing and a number of everyday amenities.
With two railway stations and excellent road links, Netherton is well-served when it comes to public transport. This includes a number of Arriva bus services that run regularly to the City of Liverpool, and open up areas like Bootle, Fazakerley, Crosby and Walton Vale.
In and around the Netherton area you’ll find plenty of places to meet your shopping needs. With household names alongside smaller independent shops, you can buy everything from food to kids’ clothes. Shopping centres in nearby Kirkby and Bootle are easily accessible too.
For a relatively small area, you’ll find plenty of pretty architecture to feast your eyes on, including the old houses clustered around the green in the Netherton Village area. The nearby Church of St Benet, which dates back to 1793, is another beautiful place to visit.
Netherton also has a strong football heritage. Previously home to Everton F.C.’s youth academy, the grounds have been turned into the Goals Football Centre since its relocation.
Due to the area’s easy access to public transport, you’ll be able to reach the City of Liverpool with ease. This opens up places such as the Albert Dock, where you’ll discover Tate Liverpool, and a plethora of shopping opportunities at Liverpool One.
