Travelling around Garston
Garston is a shipping and container port in Liverpool. The residential area, which is packed with Victorian terraced houses, has enjoyed significant regeneration in recent times and house prices are on the rise.
Home to Liverpool South Parkway railway station and bus interchange, Garstonis easily accessible by rail and road. Arriva buses operate in the area, with services to Speke, Toxteth and Wavertree, as well as Liverpool city centre and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
For a taste of the great outdoors, take a walk around Speke and Garston Coastal Reserve, which spans an impressive 70 acres, from Garston Docks to Liverpool John Lennon Airport. This is a great place for walking, cycling, birdwatching and plane spotting.
Allerton Tower Park is another stunning local attraction and it is well worth a visit. Set across 35 acres of beautiful open space, with walled gardens that bring seasonal interest, the park has been a popular attraction since it opened to the public in 1927.
For a spot of culture, head to Horrocks Avenue, where you’ll find a commemorative mosaic installation in memory of the Toxteth-born astronomer, Jeremiah Horrocks. Horrocks was the only astronomer to predict the 1639 transit of Venus across the Sun and this mosaic is fittingly magnificent.
