Children’s charity Zoë’s Place receives donation from Arriva buses
Arriva North West is proud to have surpassed its 10-year anniversary of charity support for the Liverpool branch of Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice.
Since 2007, Arriva North West has held an annual golf tournament, which sees teams from across the Arriva network compete alongside a host of local suppliers and businesses. As a result of the last event in June 2017, Arriva North West has now raised an impressive £200,000 for Zoë’s Place. The event, held at Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa, allowed participants to test their golfing skills across 18 holes, before enjoying a dinner and charitable auction in the evening.
Phil Cummins from Arriva North West said: “The annual golf day at Formby Hall has become an event that everyone at Arriva North West looks forward to. Celebrating its 10th year now, we are proud to have donated a significant sum to this incredible charity.
“It has been an honour to have been able to support Zoë’s Place with our golf day for the past 10 years. We’ve managed to raise well over £200,000 since 2007, and nearly £300,000 in total for all charities since we commenced in 1999. It’s a total we are committed to growing in the future.”
Carol Kirkham from Zoë's Place Baby Hospice added: “We were absolutely delighted to hear that we had once again been chosen as the beneficiary charity for the annual Arriva golf day. Over the last 10 years, this fantastic event has raised over £200,000 for our Hospice.
“Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice offers care and support to families and babies when they need it the most. We care for children up to the age of five, all of whom have life threatening or life limiting conditions that require 24-hour care. Individual needs vary; some require respite whilst others are in need of palliative, end of life care. In all cases, our babies are cared for by an experienced team led by Registered Children’s Nurses.
“It costs £1.6m per year to fund our Hospice and we are grateful to Arriva for its most generous ongoing support. There is always something new that is needed for our special babies, consequently the support from Arriva is vital to the ongoing success of our Hospice.”
