Start Date: 20/05/2019

Location: Blyth, Cramlington, Killingworth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Whitley Bay

Killingworth Road in Newcastle will re-open to southbound traffic from Monday 20th May 2019. As a result, there will be some changes to the routes and timetables of services 54, X7 and X8.

All of the changes are described in detail below. Simply click on the links to download new timetables for each service. Printed leaflets are available on buses and from the Ashington, Blyth, Morpeth and Newcastle Haymarket bus stations.

Service 54: Newcastle – Gosforth – South Gosforth – Quorum – Killingworth – Backworth – Shiremoor – Whitley Bay

Buses travelling towards Newcastle will revert to their normal route via West Farm Avenue, Salters’ Lane and Killingworth Road between Quorum and South Gosforth. However, buses travelling towards Killingworth, Shiremoor and Whitley Bay will continue to operate via Benton Park Road, Four Lane Ends Metro and Benton Road.

As a result, there will be some changes to the timetable, with most buses to Newcastle running a few minutes earlier or later to reflect their revised route.

Following customers’ requests, we are also improving the Monday to Saturday evening service with new journeys at 2048 from Whitley Bay to Newcastle, 2145 from Newcastle to Killingworth and 2215 from Killingworth to Newcastle. This is being done on a trial basis to provide a later last bus from Whitley Bay and offer a full hourly evening service from Newcastle to Killingworth.
