Service Changes in County Durham - from Sunday 28th January 2018

We are making changes to several services in County Durham from Sunday 28th January 2018. These will improve punctuality, better match capacity with demand and respond to requests we have received from customers in some places.

All of the changes are described in detail below. Simply click on the links to download the new timetables for each service. Printed leaflets are available on buses and from the racks inside Durham Bus Station.

Sapphire 6: Durham – Spennymoor – Bishop Auckland – West Auckland – Evenwood – Cockfield

This service will have a completely revised timetable to improve punctuality. Buses will continue to run up to every 12 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes (hourly in the evening and on Sundays), but the times will change at most places along the route.

MAX 48: Durham – Bearpark – Ushaw Moor – New Brancepeth

The Sunday journeys at 1925 from Durham to New Brancepeth and 1941 from New Brancepeth to Durham will be withdrawn due to very low usage. There are no other changes to the timetable. Click here to download a copy.

Frequenta 49/49A: Durham – Langley Moor – Brandon

Most Monday to Saturday early morning journeys will be advanced by up to 15 minutes, providing more convenient arrival times in Durham and better co-ordinating with the X46 at Langley Moor and Meadowfield. Some early morning buses that currently operate as service 49 will run as 49A, while some that currently operate as service 49A will run as 49.

All journeys will run a few minutes earlier or later between Langley Moor, Sawmills Estate and the Brandon Bus Turning Circle to improve punctuality in this area.

Service 61: Durham – North End – Whitesmocks

The Monday to Saturday bus at 1652 from Durham will be withdrawn due to very low usage. The remaining journeys will run up to ten minutes earlier to improve punctuality and fit with alterations to other services. Click here to download the new timetable.

Service 62: Durham – Arnison Centre – Brasside

Most journeys will run up to ten minutes earlier to improve punctuality and fit with alterations to other services. Click here to download the new timetable.

Frequenta 64: Arnison Centre – Newton Hall – Durham – Gilesgate – Sherburn Village – High Pittington

There will be an additional daily journey at 2325 from the Arnison Centre to Sherburn Village, providing later last buses from the Arnison Centre and Newton Hall to Durham as well as from Durham to Gilesgate, Dragonville and Sherburn Village.

A small number of Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening buses will be withdrawn due to very low usage.

MAX X46: Durham – Langley Moor – Willington – Crook – Tow Law – Stanhope

Following customers’ requests, the Monday to Friday journey at 1715 from Durham to Stanhope will start from Framwellgate Moor at 1704. As a result, the existing bus at 1619 from Framwellgate Moor to Crook will start in Durham Bus Station at 1635.

The Saturday journey at 0749 from Crook to Durham will be withdrawn due to very low usage. Alternatives are available at 0719 or 0819 from Crook and 0727 or 0827 from Willington.
