Highways England is closing the southbound carriageway of the A1 between the Alnwick South and Rashercap junctions from Monday 11th January to Friday 19th February 2016. This is to allow resurfacing and replacement of the road markings.

 

Highways England is closing the southbound carriageway of the A1 between the Alnwick South and Rashercap junctions from Monday 11th January to Friday 19th February 2016. This is to allow resurfacing and replacement of the road markings.

During this time, service X15 will run directly between Felton and Alnwick, omitting Hampeth, Shilbottle and the Lionheart Business Park. Buses will operate to the normal X15 timetable, but will run non-stop via the A1 between Felton and Willowburn Avenue (Homebase) in Alnwick.

A special shuttle service 115 will run between Morpeth, Shilbottle and Alnwick. The times at Alnwick, Shilbottle and the Lionheart Business Park will be the same as usual, and buses will connect with the X15 in Morpeth and Alnwick for customers travelling further afield. In Shilbottle, buses will run via North Side, Widow’s Row and Percy Road, serving all stops along the way. Unfortunately, we will not be able to serve the stops at The Farriers Arms. Customers who normally board and alight here should use the stop on Widow’s Row or those at St James’ Church. Click here for the full timetable.

The 115 will also not be able to serve Hampeth, as there is nowhere to safely turn buses around in this area. A separate taxi service, operated by Pheonix, will connect Hampeth with every journey on the 115 in Shilbottle. No pre-booking is required, and taxis will pick-up and drop-off at the usual bus stops. However, please be at your stop 10-15 minutes before the normal bus time to ensure you make the taxi connection.

Normal fares will apply, including through tickets for journeys that involve changing between the X15, 115 and the taxi shuttle service. Unfortunately, service 115 will not normally be operated by a MAX vehicle.
