Improvements to Durham Services 46 and 48

From Sunday 31st January 2016

We are making some changes to services 46 and 48 from Sunday 31st January 2016 to improve punctuality, better match capacity with demand and respond to customers’ requests.

Service 46

In September we extended this service from Crook to Tow Law and we have received a lot of positive comments about it. In light of this feedback we are adding an extra Monday to Friday journey to the timetable. This will leave Durham Bus Station at 1450, then serve Crook Market Place at 1524, Low Mown Meadows at 1527, Roddymoor at 1533, Stanley Crook at 1537 and Tow Law at 1548. There will also be a later bus on Mondays to Fridays from Durham to Low Mown Meadows, leaving the bus station at 1820.

There will be minor alterations to the service at Monday to Friday commuter times, with most buses running five or ten minutes earlier or later than now. The current 0721 from Low Mown Meadows to Framwellgate Moor will run five minutes earlier and finish in Durham Bus Station. This will improve the reliability of later journeys, as the bus can get stuck in traffic around Durham City Centre. Frequent alternative buses are available between Durham and Framwellgate Moor, including service 64 that runs up to every ten minutes.

On Sundays and Public Holidays, buses will start one hour earlier than now. There will be a new journey at 0815 from Durham to Crook, arriving there at 0842. There will also be a new journey at 0847 from Crook to Durham, which will arrive in the City Centre at 0915 – great if you have to start work early or if you’re travelling further afield!

Service 48

There will be minor alterations to this service at Monday to Friday commuter times, with most buses running a few minutes earlier or later than now. We are also introducing a new journey at 0817 from Durham to New Brancepeth, filling a gap of 45 minutes in the current timetable.
