Travelling around Whitley Bay
Whitley Bay is a coastal town in the north-east of England. Since the 19th century, it has been a seaside resort attracting visitors from the surrounding areas who are drawn by the dramatic coastline and long sandy beach.
The fact that Newcastle upon Tyne is just 10 miles away makes Whitley Bay the ideal destination for anyone seeking a quick break from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
In the last decade or so, the local council have invested in regenerating Whitley Bay, in particular, the iconic Spanish City leisure centre which was reopened as a place to eat and drink, and the building of a new skate park and a refurbished swimming pool.
Arriva bus services in the area run to Newcastle upon Tyne, North Shields and Cramlington.
