Travelling around Stockton
Located on the banks of the Tees River and in the heart of Durham, Stockton-on-Tees is one of the jewels in the North East’s crown. This pretty market town has great connections to the rest of the North East and beyond.

There are also an abundance of parks and gardens that make this the perfect place for a visit if you’re a lover of the great outdoors.
With excellent train links to Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland, Stockton is a great commuter town for the bigger cities nearby. Getting around within Stockton is a piece of cake too, thanks to the Arriva bus services. Arriva buses run to Peterlee, Darlington and Yarm, as well as Middlesbrough and Newcastle.
Stockton-on-Tees’ Butterfly World is a little slice of magic. The pretty location, combined with hundreds of stunning exotic butterflies fluttering around, make it a great place for a day out with the little ones. Surrounded by parkland, it offers the chance to see meerkats, reptiles and an ant farm.
Nearby Yarm is a great spot to shop. With pretty, cobbled streets, a clock tower, a beautiful bridge and a plethora of independent shops, quirky cafes and top-notch restaurants, this place is sure to meet all of your shopping needs. ARC Stockton Arts Centre is the perfect place for culture lovers. This excellent venue offers a full programme of theatre, music and dance. There are regular children’s shows and hands-on workshops, making it great for families, as well as a fab bar and restaurant that is open all day.
