Travelling around Gateshead
Gateshead is situated in Tyne and Wear in the North East of England. Lying on the Southern bank of the River Tyne, the town is just a stone’s throw from the city of Newcastle.
Despite being frequently overshadowed by its immediate neighbour to the north, Gateshead is a vibrant, cosmopolitan destination in its own right, with sumptuous Georgian architecture, numerous listed buildings and Antony Gormley’s winged masterpiece, the magnificent Angel of the North.
Gateshead has excellent road and rail links, and Arriva buses operate in the area, providing routes to local hubs, such as Durham and Middlesbrough, as well as regular services across the Tyne into Newcastle city centre.
