Arriva North East continues Sunday service following funded trial
After listening to the important communities that build our business, Arriva North East is pleased to announce that route 1 will continue to serve Lynemouth, Ellington and Cresswell on Sundays and Public Holidays following a successful trial.
The service was introduced in May 2015 in partnership with CELL Big Local, using Big Lottery funding to trial Sunday and Public Holiday buses to these villages that were withdrawn several years ago. The trial ended in May 2016, but after reviewing passenger numbers and consulting the local community Arriva North East has decided to continue operating a large part of the service.
From Sunday 6th November, there will be slight modifications to the route and timetable but the service will continue to operate. Buses will continue to run hourly from Blyth, Ashington and Wansbeck Hospital to Lynemouth and Ellington, but then serve Cresswell and Widdrington Station every two hours. Adding Widdrington Station to the route creates new links for people in this area, and allows connections with route X18 to Morpeth and Alnwick.
New timetables will be available on the Arriva North East website and on buses from Sunday 23rd October 2016 in readiness for the change.
