Where to catch your Bus in Durham during Lumiere

Milburngate Bridge will be closed to eastbound traffic from 8pm on Wednesday 11th November. After this time:

  • Service 6 will run via Margery Lane and Quarryheads Lane between Milburngate and the New Inn, omitting the stops on Milburngate Bridge, New Elvet and Church Street
  • Service 24 will run via Margery Lane, Quarryheads Lane, Church Street and New Elvet between Milburngate and Gilesgate, omitting the stops on Milburngate Bridge
  • Service 64 will run via Margery Lane, Quarryheads Lane, Church Street and New Elvet between Milburngate and Claypath
  • Service X12 will run via Margery Lane and Quarryheads Lane between Milburngate and the New Inn, omitting the stops on Milburngate Bridge, New Elvet and Church Street

Several roads in Durham City Centre will be closed on each day of the festival, which means that some services will have revised routes and stopping arrangements.

  • Claypath will be closed in both directions from 2pm. From this time, service 64 will run via the A690 Leazes Road, omitting all of the stops on Claypath
  • The lower half of North Road and Milburngate will be closed from 3.30pm. From this time, buses will not serve the stops on North Road or Milburngate. Services 61 and 62 will divert via the A690 Leazes Road and Milburngate Bridge. Service 64 will follow its normal route between the Arnison Centre and Framwellgate Moor, then run via North Road, Leazes Road, Milburngate Bridge and Gilesgate, resuming its normal route from there. The only stops for the 61, 62 and 64 in Durham City Centre will be on Milburngate Bridge
  • Half of North Road roundabout will be closed from 4pm. As a result, buses will enter and leave the bus station on the ‘wrong side’ of the roundabout, extending journey times by a few minutes
  • The normal exit from the bus station will close from 5pm. This means that buses will need to enter and leave via the usual entrance, extending journey times by a few minutes

Normal routes and stopping arrangements will apply everywhere else. Buses that serve Durham Bus Station will continue to use their normal stands. We expect the Bus Station to be very busy, but staff will be on hand to help you plan your journey and find your bus.
