Arriva North East Community Action Awards Scheme

The Arriva Community Action Awards scheme aims to help recognise the valuable contribution that employees make to their local communities through voluntary work. The Awards are open to all Arriva employees across Europe, including those who work in their spare time for a charity or non-profit making organisation for the benefit of the local community.

A number of Arriva North East employees have spent their valuable spare time supporting charity’s in their local community. Here are just some of the winners;-

 

Phil Hardy - Silver Award - Ashington driver, Phil has been working hard to raise funds for the local Martial Arts School. East Meets West Black Belt Academy is a family orientated and family ran Martial Arts School of Excellence. The academy which Phil’s son attends, aims to teach students respect and self-discipline through Martial Arts.

 

Robbie Hebdon - Bronze Award - Robbie who is a Driver at Darlington Depot has been working hard to raise much needed funds for the local scout group. 1st Gainford Scouts provides adventure for young people aged 6 to 14 in Teesdale, County Durham.

 

Kenny Nevin – Bronze Award - Jesmond driver Kenny has been raising funds Newbiggin Hall Boys Club. The club helps to provide an opportunity for local youngsters to enjoy association football, and other Club social activities, in a safe and inclusive environment

 

Bill Burgess - Gold Award - Bill who is also a driver at Jesmond was proud to have achieved the Gold award for his effort and support towards Cancer Research UK who aim to support research into all types of cancer and across all age groups

 

As part of the Arriva Community Action Awards employees can apply to win a Platinum (£2,000), Gold (£1,000), Silver (£500) or Bronze (£250) award for the charity or organisation they support. Winners are also presented with a certificate recognising their contribution and a small gift for themselves.

Groups of employees who have undertaken a special project to help or raise funds for the community, an organisation or charity are also invited to apply.
