Our Spring Family Day Ticket Offer in the North East

The sunny days and warm weather of spring make a nice change from the winter blues, so now’s the time to hop on the bus and get exploring! With the new season around the corner, we’ve come up with some great day-out ideas to keep your schedule stocked up while the sun’s out.

Great North Museum

Located in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, the Great North Museum has been delighting visitors for more than 130 years. A centre for natural history and ancient civilisation, the Great North Museum was recently upgraded and reopened in 2009, after the Hancock Museum and the Hatton Gallery merged – forming one of the North’s finest days out for cultural immersion.

Highlights of the museum include the awe-inspiring Planetarium, giving you chance to view the universe in all its glory, and many great seasonal events. Also, from the 18th May, Dippy the Dinosaur will be visiting the museum for a number of months, giving visitors the chance to get up close and personal with the UK’s best-loved dino!

Buses to catch: Any to Newcastle city centre

Preston Park Museum & Gardens

Reopening for spring, the gardens at Preston Park Museum are the perfect spot to explore on a sunny day. The location evokes the spirit of the 1800s with a fully-operational Victorian Kitchen Garden. Using tried-and-tested methods from the Victorian era, the garden is home to a great selection of seasonal fruit, vegetables and flowers.

If you like what you see growing in the garden, you’ll have chance to purchase some of the produce for yourself on the Victorian Street – a living replica of a quaint English street in the 1800s. Whilst you’re perusing the Victorian Street, be sure to stop off at the sweet shops and watch Peat Oberon, the resident blacksmith at work in his traditional forge.

Bus to catch: Get the 7/7A from Stockton or Yarm
